Congratulations to St. Winefride’s Girls team for their marvellous display on the football pitch in the STFC Qualifying competition.
Although pipped into 2nd place, this by no means tells the full story. 5 games – 3 wins, 2 draws, 25 goals scored and only 2 conceded.
Despite this narrowest of defeats, the day was not without success; the team proudly receiving the BeConnect prize for attitude, team spirit and unity – a tribute which (almost) made up for not progressing to next month’s final.
Goals were plentiful – Isabella leading the way with 10 goals, followed by Grace with 8, Lucy with 5 and Abi with 2. These hot-shots were ably assisted by a very mean defence of Floss and Milla and our almost impervious goalkeeper, Georgie.
Well done girls, you did St. Winefride’s proud!
