A Word From The Headteacher:

Hello and welcome to St. Winefride’s School.

St. Winefride, patron saint of our school and of Shrewsbury

On behalf of our school family, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to St. Winefride’s.  Founded in 1868 by the Sisters of Mercy, it caters for boys and girls from 3 – 11 years and has a long tradition of high academic standards.  We are a diverse, friendly, Catholic community, welcoming families from different backgrounds, bound together by our core values of Kindness, Care, Respect and Unity and the objective of offering the very best for the children who attend St. Winefride’s.

Our aim is to ensure that the needs of our children are met in all areas of school life and that each child is given a wealth of experience and opportunities. By working collaboratively, in a caring and compassionate environment the children will be supported to reach their full academic, social, and personal potential. This in turn, will guarantee they leave St. Winefride’s as confident, responsible, and resilient members of society, ready to tackle whatever comes their way.

As a Catholic community, we endeavour to celebrate the successes of our children in all areas of school life, providing a happy, caring, spiritual, respectful, and hardworking environment, in which all staff utilise their skills to enable the children in their care to fulfil their true potential.

The ethos of St. Winefride’s is one of the reasons why many parents choose to send their children to the school.  It has been said that it is the ‘hidden gem’ within Shrewsbury.  We look forward to being able to show you the unique qualities that make our School so special.
