J2 have been working hard on their creative writing and finding out all about Shrewsbury’s famous faces. Therefore, when a competition came up to write to Charles Darwin inviting him to come on a special journey, J2 just had to enter! Everyone in the class came up with different, exciting ideas, full of creative inspiration and showing off their writing talents.
Izzy was selected from the hundreds of entrants across Shropshire to be a finalist, reading out her original and innovative entry for a discerning judging panel and invited audience. The final took place at the Shrewsbury University Centre, and Izzy’s letter wowed the judges.
There was one surprise in store… Charles Darwin himself turned up to the event! At the end, he was invited to choose his favourite letter, which was made into a story there and then by storyteller of the year, Jake Evans. Charles Darwin’s favourite was…Izzy’s! Many congratulations on a wonderful performance.
