Shrewsbury Town Football in the Community were delighted to be able to offer all their partner schools the opportunity to walk out at Montgomery Waters Meadow with the England National Under 17 team vs Russia on 14th October.

To win, the children had to write a persuasive letter to tell the Club why they should be picked to be a mascot. Entries were judged on both content and writing ability. Lots of pupils, from a range of schools, entered, and Saffron Wycherley, from Junior 4, was one of the two children whose writing was selected as a winning entry by the judges.

Saffron was given her own England kit and walked out with the players through the tunnel and onto the pitch. She then watched the game as a guest. She had a fantastic day as the England Team Mascot and is pictured here in the dressing room, wearing her kit before the match. England ended up winning the match against Russia 3-0. Well done!
