This week, our year 6 spent a day at Shrewsbury Town F.C.’s home ground, Montgomery Waters Meadow, as part of our partnership with the Club and as participants in the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.
Pupils enjoyed a full programme of activities, including a tour of the stadium, a maths lesson on data handling in football and a PSHE workshop on healthy eating. The highlight of the day, was however, in the afternoon, when the children enjoyed an author workshop with Dan Freedman, author of the Jamie Johnson book series (now also a TV series) and Shrewsbury Town FC U18 player, Rhys Davies (the original Jamie Johnson!). At the end of the day, all our pupils were given a signed copy of a Jamie Johnson book by Dan.
We had a fantastic day, and our thanks go to John Rix and his team at Shrewsbury Town FC and, of course, Dan Freedman, for taking the time to showing us how to be better writers and answer all our questions!
