This year, Father Edmund went to Rome and brought home a huge honour for the School: a special blessing from Pope Francis.
Last year, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of our School being founded, and so to commemorate this and to bless the Sisters of Mercy, the pupils, staff and parents of St. Winefride’s, Pope Francis has sent a blessing to our School.
Father Edmund came to celebrate with us and said Mass in the School Hall. He told us all about his trip to Rome, and was very impressed by the behaviour and reverence shown by all the children during the Mass.
We so often sing ‘on our school, your blessing Lord’ in assembly, and we are so fortunate in all that we have received. We pray for Father Edmund, Pope Francis and all in our School Community that God will continue to watch over us.
