Our Infants 2 Class thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Bookfest Picture Book Award at the start of this term. They listened raptly to each of the four shortlisted books, planted peas to try to grow their own Runaway Pea and created some amazing artwork – illustrating a scene of their choice from one of the books.

All the entries were sent to the judges, who chose Cosima’s painting of the Runaway Pea as St. Winefride’s ‘Best in School’. Cosima was delighted when Mrs Devey presented her with her prize from Bookfest, a ‘box of delights’ including all kinds of colouring materials, at a special class assembly.

My very sincere thanks to Mrs Curtis-Cole for her help and support, without which the children would not have entered so wholeheartedly into the project.
