Year 5 and 6 this term have been investigating African tribal masks with Mr. Keeling. The base layer of the masks was made from papier mache pulp. We then painted the masks by experimenting with earthy tones, inspired by the African landscape.

We embellished the masks with natural substances such as raffia, pinto beans, twine and shells.

This was a wonderful learning opportunity – learning about different cultures, developing our art skills and crafting the masks themselves. It was great fun – everyone loved the experience!
