The children may have told you about the assembly given by we had on Monday about a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ we are doing this year.

We are really excited this year to be supporting and working with Foodbank Plus here in Shrewsbury, helping local families this Christmas. Last year, Foodbank Plus gave out 135 Christmas hampers to families in Shrewsbury and the surrounding villages, families that would otherwise struggle over the Christmas period. This year, they anticipate working with 150 families and this means approximately 250 children will receive their Christmas gifts from the scheme too.

As a school, each class, starting from 1st December until 20th December, will be doing a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’: this basically means that for each day of Advent in this period, we will put something from the Foodbank Christmas Hamper list into a box to go towards one of the 150 Christmas Hampers being handed out this year. . Mr Goody will then take our full boxes to the Foodbank for us, in time to ensure the hampers get to families for Christmas.

We thank you in advance for supporting this worthwhile project.
