Last week, we took the St. Winefride’s ‘Sorting Cap’ to Reception Class to find out in which School House each child would be placed. We explained the legend and history of the Cap and sat the children on the seat and placed the Sorting Cap on their heads. Mr. Goody could sense which House each child would go to by placing his hand above the Cap and ‘reading’ its intentions.

The children were so excited to find out their Houses. Each child was ‘sorted’ into one of the Houses: St.Mary’s, St. Alkmund’s, Holy Cross and St. Chad’s. After all the children had been placed into their Houses, we took the Cap back to its resting place on a shelf in Mrs. Devey’s office, where it remains until next year…
