The School recently ran a chess competition throughout the Autumn Term. Congratulations to the winner, Sam Hollands, who won all seven of his games, followed closely by Dominic Weilds and Mikey Jones, in joint second place. In third place was Frank Thompson, who represented St. Winefride’s in the UK Chess Challenge in Leak, where he qualified for the Giga-Final in Manchester. Frank competed against the top chess playing children in the UK, and scored an impressive 3 out of 6. Pictured here is Frank receiving his award from Mr. Rutter.
A School Christmas tournament was won jointly by Xabier Yardley and Eoghan Clements.
Chess club starts again at School on Tuesday, 16th January, at 8.15am.
